📚 Vocabulary Trainer

Pick a word list or paste your own, then drill it three ways: learn, dictation and fill-in-the-blank. Progress and the mistake log stay in your browser.

What it does

Built-in word lists
CET-4, CET-6, postgraduate entrance exam and IELTS high-frequency lists are ready to go — or paste any list of your own.
Three drill modes
Learn introduces new words, dictation checks that you can spell them from the audio, and cloze checks that you can use them in a sentence.
An automatic mistake log
Anything you get wrong goes into a review pile and comes back more often until it stops being a mistake.
Progress stays on your device
No account and no sync — the word list, the streak and the mistake log all live in your browser's storage.

How to use it

  1. Choose a word list

Pick a built-in list, or paste your own as "word<tab>meaning" lines — one per row.

  2. Set the group size

Words are drilled in small groups; a smaller group is harder to game and easier to actually remember.

  3. Run the learn pass

See each word with its meaning and pronunciation before you are tested on it.

  4. Drill dictation and cloze

Type the word from audio, then place it into a sentence. Both are checked letter by letter.

  5. Clear the mistake log

Come back to the wrong-answer pile until it is empty; that pile, not the word count, is the real measure of progress.

Frequently asked questions

Is the vocabulary trainer free?

Yes, entirely. There is no account, no paid tier and no limit on how many words you drill.

Can I use my own word list?

Yes. Paste lines of "word<tab>meaning" and it becomes a drillable list straight away — useful for a textbook unit or a set of terms from a paper.

Where is my progress stored?

In your browser's local storage. That means it survives closing the tab but does not sync between devices, and clearing site data will reset it.

Does it read the words out loud?

Yes, using your browser's built-in speech synthesis, so it works offline and costs nothing. Voice quality depends on your operating system.

Which word lists are included?

CET-4, CET-6, the postgraduate entrance exam list and IELTS high-frequency vocabulary.

How many words should I do per day?

Sustainability beats volume: a group of 20 to 50 new words with the mistake log cleared each day works better than 200 words reviewed once and never again.
